The author's soon-to-be-completed fifth novel, Merriman is a work in progress. It's a tragic-comic tale of a disreputable old curmudgeon of a lawyer named John Merriman and his practical-minded, devoted wife May. Merriman's legal exploits, and his clients' illegal ones, form the backbone of the plot. Whether May's heart of gold and their lovable Jack Russell, Leland, can redeem Merriman in the end is yet to be determined. Filled with up-tempo courtroom drama and a gang of interesting characters, the author's long-time readers may find that Merriman marks a turning point in his writing. The novel is scheduled for completion by the fourth quarter of 2006. Look for it to be published by the end of the year. Try a sampling of the first two chapters today and see what you think.
